Mobile Passport App Allows You to Skip Long Lines at the Airport

Mobile Passport App Allows You to Skip The Long Lines at Immigration's and Customs When You Return to The U.S.

Would you like to skip the long lines at the customs desk when you fly back to the U.S? Well now you can with your smartphone. Yes, there’s an app for that and it’s totally free for Android and iOS users. The Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) and Airside Mobile have developed Mobile Passport Control (MPC), a new smartphone app in partnership with United States Customs and Border Protection to help you get through the customs process a lot faster.

mobile_passportPassengers are able to submit their passport and customs declaration information using #mobilepassport (MCP) and go straight to the mobile express lane after they disembark the plane.

At this time, the app is live in five airports, Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta (ATL), Miami, Florida (MIA), San Francisco (SFO) and Seattle (SEA). The app is expected to be in use at the Ft. Lauderdale International airport (FLL) later this year. Currently, U.S. citizens with a valid U.S. passport and Canadian citizens with both a valid Canadian passport and B1 or B2 visa status are able to utilize the app.

Enter your passport number, set-up a profile and take a selfie.

It’s very easy to use. Download the app, enter your passport number and set-up a profile with a pin and take a selfie. It will generate a receipt for you. Now you are pre-registered. It’s that easy.
When your flight lands, log on to the app and fill out the declaration information. Walk over to the express mobile app line, scan your receipt and the wait is over.

Some are concerned about privacy issues, but we are told every security measure including encryption is in place when the information is transmitted to CBP.

Sit back, relax and know you can skip the dreaded customs line when you return from abroad.
