Maluaka Beach, fondly referred to as “Turtle Town” for its population of Hawaiian green sea turtles, is one of south Maui's most beautiful beaches. The calm blue water is filled with marine life and tropical fish making it a favorite with the locals for snorkeling and those learning to surf. The turtles and marine life usually hang out at the south end of the beach near the rocks where the coral reef begins. There’s lots of soft golden sand, shade and clean restrooms with outside showers.
Although it’s not secret, it is one of the lesser known beaches in Maui. Often, you will find a wedding ceremony or the bridal party taking pictures at Maluaka because of its beauty. If you are considering a Hawaii wedding, be sure and read our article on the top ten reasons to have a Maui wedding.
Maluaka beach is just south of Wailea at the end of Makena Road near Keawalai Church. There is free parking in the lot across the street. If you plan to snorkel, use the parking lot at the south end of the beach just past the Makena Beach & Golf Resort. As with all beaches in Maui, arrive early for the best parking spots.
