Kama’ole Beach Park
Three beautiful Hawaiian Beaches on Maui's south shore.
Kama’ole Beach Park is actually made up of three beaches (“Kam I”, “Kam II” and “Kam III”) as referred to by the locals, and separated by rocky points at each end of the beaches. This area provides incredible views of Molokini, Kaho’olawe and Lana’i islands and is a great place to watch a beautiful Hawaiian sunset.
The Kama’ole beach parks are located on South Kihei between the Azeka shopping centers and just before you get to Wailea. There is plenty of parking for all three beaches. However, if you want to park near the water, arrive before 9:00 AM.
Kam I & Charley Young Beach
Kam I is the largest of the three beaches and has a nice swimming area with a soft white sand and a grassy area that’s great for picnics or throwing a Frisbee around. The north end of Kam I is known as Charley Young Beach and has the best snorkeling.
Smaller than the other two beaches, Kam II is nice for swimming and often has good waves, particularly during a southwest swell.
Kam III is the shortest and least wide of the Kama’oles but the most popular. There is a playground for kids and has the largest grassy area that hosts many family picnics. This is also a good beach for boogie-boarding and several other beach activities.
There are picnic tables, restrooms and outdoor showers in the parks beside each beach. There are also several restaurants and other conveniences close by.
Swimming is not recommended during times of high surf.
