Coronado Island, CA
Located just off the coast of San Diego, California, Coronado Beach is 1.5 miles long of world-class sand. This island getaway is perfect for a relaxing romantic escape or that fun-filled family vacation bursting with activity. The pristine beach is consistently ranked on the “Best Beaches” in America list by travelers as well as industry experts and voted #1 Beach in the U.S. for 2012 by Dr. Beach.
The calm waves make Coronado Beach an ideal location for novice swimmers, children and those learning to surf and skim board. The presence of mica causes the sand to sparkle in the California sun and make it appear as though it were speckled with gold. The beach is wide enough you will never lack for a place to dip your toes in the sand or play a game of volleyball.
Coronado is Spanish for "the crowned one" and home to Hotel del Coronado, the Victorian wooden beach resort made famous by movies like “Some Like it Hot” with Marilyn Monroe and visits by celebrities and royalty alike.
